Makeup Tips For Those Days When You’re Just Not Feeling It

Contents

Don’t Force Yourself To Overdo The Prepping

On days like this, you’ve probably woken up late and are feeling like a hot mess. There’s literally no way you’d be willing to dedicate 30 minutes cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, toning, and doing what not to prep your skin for makeup. Sure, having a mini morning skincare routine before applying your makeup is absolutely amazing — both for your skin and for your resulting look — but you seriously don’t have to overdo it if you’re not feeling it.

Instead, just wash your face with a gentle cleanser, then pat it dry. Next, you’ll want to apply some moisturizer and sunscreen so that you’ve got a healthy base for your cosmetics. Some moisturizers even come with a built-in primer included in the formula, allowing you to skip that next step and get right on to the fun stuff. And the best part? It still nourishes your skin, and it’s barely noticeable that you skipped your morning skincare. We call that a win-win all around!

Ditch The Foundation For Some BB Cream

A coat of foundation is practically a commitment for many of us because now you’ve got to make sure it’s the right shade, it’s blended well, and that you’ve got a nice coat of makeup to make things look natural. No sad girl has got time for that. Instead, switch it out for some BB cream, and your skin won’t even need that extra effort to look natural. Sure, it’s not a permanent foundation replacement, but it does a great job giving your skin a polished look in under five minutes!

Eye Makeup Look That Doesn’t Look Lazy At All

Anyone who does makeup knows that eyeliners can be the very definition of frustrating, and nobody’s got the time to make the other eye look the same when you’ve got a personal thundercloud over your head. So what’s one way to do your eye makeup while also ditching the eyeliner? It’s pretty easy, actually: Just grab your mascara wand.

The primary job of your eyeliner is to add some definition to your eyes, allowing them to look both bigger and brighter. And while getting clean, bold looks will definitely be more difficult without it, you could always create an illusion of defined eyes by making your eyelashes pop. You’ll want to be generous with the mascara, especially when you’re doing your lower lashes.

To make it look like you’ve spent some time on this, you could even try out some eyeshadow (although you don’t necessarily have to). Just choose two or three colors that belong to the same palette, a dark shade, a medium shade, and a light shade. Start out by applying the lightest shade, and then give the look some depth by blending it with the darker shades in the inward corners for a simple yet alluring look.

Go For Bold Lips To Make Up For The Lackluster Makeup

If the rest of your face looks tired and drawn, then this would be a great time to make your lips do all the talking (literally!). Simply use a bold shade for your lips, preferably matte if you’ve decided to skip out on everything else in your repertoire. That way, your lips are a statement, and you’ll still like what they’re saying. Don’t spend too much time on it, though. Just make sure that you’ve got clean outlines, throw on your favorite cozy, cute outfit, and you’re all set!

Of course, if you’ve been feeling this way for a long time, then you might want to take the time to reach out to a professional. It might be a simple case of the blahs, but if looking up the bipolar definition resonates with you, then a therapist may be able to help you regain your spark. “Fake it ‘til you make it” can only take you so far, but through professional help — and by using these four tips — you’ll be looking and feeling just like your old self again before too long!
